This was my 1st trip to Tybee Island Georgia. I booked my stay with the DeSoto Beach hotel through booking. The hotel was wonderful, quiet and everyone with the staff were very friendly. Living in Pennsylvania, we met another couple that previously lived in Pennsylvania, and had a wonderful conversation. The beach is just a 3 minute walk from the hotel. It was awesome watching the large shipping vessels take off from what I believe is the south part of the island. Right across from the hotel is a Beach shop which sells swimming gear, surfing gear and novelty and souvenirs. I'd say this was a prime location for a stay on Tybee Island. There is an island taxi for short runs. In either direction you're a mile away from the Tybee Island Pier. Or if you'd like to venture out the other way to the Tybee Island lighthouse and science center where they have live aquatic animals. A small donation fee and you can take the tour. Well worth it. My next visit to Tybee Island will DEFINITELY be booking with the DeSoto Beach hotel.

Breakfast was wonderful! The beds were great but the sleeper sofa was not comfortable and we had to call the front desk to get it folded down in the mornings.

The location is excellent as it really is right on the beach. Pool and community areas were clean and perfect for what we needed. Staff was friendly and attentive. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean and spacious.

The location was good. Did have a view of the ocean. The room was clean. It is an old hotel which I knew. It could use a few room updates like a wall pull out vanity mirror. The sink area is in an unusual spot.

The room was perfect size and the view was really nice. I loved that our balcony had a wall instead of a fence since I had a 1.5 year old with me. It made me feel comfortable letting her play on the balcony knowing she was safe. The walk to the beach and pool was a good distance as well and renting the umbrella and chairs from the front desk was easy and a great price. They set up at 9:30 and you have it until 6 so we were able to get a lot of beach time in as well as go back and forth without needing to take it down.

The hotel was conveniently super close to the beach. The rooms were pretty standard. We had 2 problems. 1 in our room, the outlets shocked you when we plugged in anything. The plugs (standard wall plugs) would NOT staying the wall for anything. The staff didn't really seem to care when we told them.... 2nd, people were smoking weed which is not the problem. It was seeping into our room. This is very frustrating considering my Mother in law has sever asthma and had problems for weeks after even though thr rooms were supposed to be smoke free. That's not really a problem from thr hotel...it was more the guests, but it was still really frustrating.
